Quia Resources (CVE:QIA) raised its previously announced private placement by 0,000 on Friday, bringing the total value of the financing up to .5 million.

The gold exploration company said it will now issue about 23.33 million units at .15 per share. Each unit consists of one common Quia share and one half of a common share purchase warrant.

Each full warrant entitles the holder to acquire one common share of the company for .30 for a period of two years from the closing date. The warrants are subject to an acceleration right at the option of the company, Quia said.

Late last month, Quia had announced its original private placement financing plans, where it intended to issue only 15 million units at .20 each, for total proceeds of .0 million.

The private placement is expected to close on or around January 6, 2012.

The proceeds of the offering will be used to fund exploration at the company’s San Lucas property in Colombia, to pursue acquisitions and for general working capital purposes.

A finder’s fee and finder’s warrants will also be distributed in connection with the financing.

Quia Resources is a gold exploration company focused in Colombia. The San Lucas gold belt is among the least explored and most prospective gold belts in Colombia.

In October, the company announced initial drill results from the first seven holes ever drilled, in the Guamoco district of the San Lucas gold belt.

The seven holes were drilled at the La Colina and La Rueda anomalies and are part of an ongoing larger 5,000 metre program designed to develop a better understanding of the geology and mineralization in the district, as well as to develop a deposit model for the respective anomalies.

Highlights included hole SL1101, which intersected 7.6 metres of 0.34 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold, and hole SL1104, which returned 3.25 metres of 0.33 g/t gold, 4.15 metres of 0.37 g/t gold and 5.50 metres of 0.32 g/t gold.

Thor Mining (LON:THR, ASX:THR) said today recent drilling suggests its Spring Hill gold project in Australia is much larger than originally thought.

The group said economic mineralisation potentially extends up to 100 metres below historical resource drilling, with a good correlation between its drilling and historical reverse circulation gold intersections in the upper levels.

Thor added the Spring Hill gold deposit had not been drill-tested at depth greater than 150 metres before and mineralisation remains open at depth on almost all drilling sections.

The explorer completed six diamond holes for a total of 1,574 metres. Grades from the latest drill programme included 4.7m at 5.7g/t gold from 28.6 metres and 5.0m at 2.1g/t gold from 106 metres.

Mick Billing, executive chairman said: “These results provide confidence in the potential for early development of an open pit gold mining operation at Spring Hill and also reinforces our belief that the resource may be substantially larger than initially estimated.”

“More drilling is scheduled for 2012 along with studies to assess the potential for early commencement of mining operation.” he added.

Thor’s next steps art Spring Hill are to continue to drill test extensions to the existing resource; drill test known mineralisation nearby; scoping studies to assess the potential for accelerated mine development and to drill test a deeper “Callie style” target.

Thor acquired a 25 per cent interest in Spring Hill in August with an option to increase the stake to 80 per cent. The prospect is situated 150 kilometres south of Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia.

Identification

There are other pieces of documentation you will need to take with you when you go to the Regional Agency. These are a passport photograph, the relevant fee and proof of identification. Your ID may be a valid driver’s license, a government ID, naturalization certificate, military ID or a previously issued passport that has not been damaged. You should also bring a photocopy of your Proof of ID.
